Grammy-winning, envelope pushing, country music singer/songwriter, Kacey Musgraves, will be joined by the girl kissing, teenage dreaming pop princess, Katy Perry, on a new installment of CMT Crossroads on Friday, June 13th, at 10:00 p.m. ET/PT. The episode featuring the uniquely dynamic duo of Musgraves and Perry will mark the fiftieth episode of CMT Crossroads. By tuning into CMT the evening of June 13th, fans can expect to hear exclusive collaborations of the artists’ hits, including Musgraves’ “Follow Your Arrow” and “Merry Go ‘Round” and Perry’s “Roar” and “Teenage Dream.”
This merging of two artists from different genres won’t just be making history as the fiftieth episode of the long-running CMT Crossroads, but it will also make history as the first episode to air on multiple channels. Fans will also be able to watch Musgraves and Perry share the stage by tuning into VH1, MTV, MTV Hits and Palladia (dates and times for these additional airings will soon be announced).
In August, Musgraves will tour with Katy Perry on her Prismatic World Tour.
Kacey Musgraves, released her debut album, “Same Trailer Different Park,” an album which she co-produced with Shane McAnally and Luke Laird. Musgraves’ album debuted at Number 1 on Billboard’s Top Country Albums chart, making her the first solo female in five years to debut at Number 1 with a rookie release and just seventh in the Nielson SoundScan era. Musgraves received the award for “New Artist of the Year” at 2013’s CMA Awards and also won two Grammy Awards for Best Country Song (“Merry Go ‘Round”) and Best Country Album (“Same Trailer Different Park”). Additionally, Musgraves took home the ACM Award for Album of the Year (“Same Trailer Different Park”). Musgraves recently completed her leg as opening spot on Lady Antebellum’s tour and will join Willie Nelson and Alison Krauss on the road this June.
Katy Perry became a global sensation with her second studio album, “Teenage Dream,” which debuted at Number 1 in eight countries and spent more than two years on Billboard’s Top 200 Albums Chart. She became the only female artist to have five Number 1 singles from one album on the Billboard Hot 100 chart (“California Gurls,” “Teenage Dream,” “Firework,” “E.T.” and “Last Friday Night”). “Roar,” the first single from Perry’s new album, “Prism,” became her tenth Number 1 Top 40 track after debuting at Number 1 on iTunes in 68 countries with 557,024 downloads in its first week of release, the biggest digital song sales week of 2013. Perry’s follow-up single, “Unconditionally”, was released in late 2013, followed by “Dark Horse”, which helped Perry set the record at Top 40 for most total weeks (46) at Number 1 on the Billboard airplay chart. Perry recently kicked off her Prismatic World Tour (which Musgraves will join in August).
