Sony music recording artist, Kane Brown, is known for his massive hit records and his booming live shows. However, what some of you may not know is that he has teamed up with his own mother and a family friend to create Kane’s KareBears. The idea started in 2016 when Christina Miller became close to a little girl named Carlee who has several rare medical conditions. Carlee is a mutual friend of Christina and Kane. Miller brought the idea to Tabatha (Kane’s mother) and from there they included Kane, who was more than willing to make the project happen.
Carlee was one of the first bear recipients. Both Christina and Tabatha do the majority of the work while Kane makes sure to sign each bear with love. They have now sent about thirty bears to children all over the world and their hope is that it keeps growing.
Christina explained how it works, “in early 2016, I approached Kane and his family to partner with me to create Kane’s Karebear’s and they were all for the idea. Kane autographs the special edition Karebear logo t-shirts for the teddy bears, and I, alongside Kane’s family, compose a special Karebear letter that goes out with every Karebear package and a one of a kind teddy bear. No bear is the same, as no child is the same.”
Kane’s Karebears are for children who have a serious illness or developmental delay. They are given to children who may not be able to attend a live show. “Currently we have about 47 kids on the list. We try to pick about two kids each month” Brown’s mother Tabatha states. To see past recipients and their stories, you can join the KB Krew fan club on Facebook. This fan club sponsors the Karebear program, and you can see each child that has been featured to receive a Karebear in the past. Each month new children are featured with their stories that have been selected for a Karebear. Karebear recipients are chosen by the family and Krew admins.
Brown’s mother says she believes kids are just drawn to him naturally, “I think it’s his soothing voice and some of the stuff he sings about, maybe some of them can relate to what he went through growing up.” Brown is a very likable person and his image is very kid friendly, he’s probably one of the most kid-friendly artists we have in country music. When asked what it’s like to share her baby with the world – Tabatha laughed and said “Oh It’s very overwhelming. I am proud of him but boy the mama bear comes out when I see the negative comments so it does get overwhelming.”
Both Christina and Mama bear are very proud and passionate about this project. Kane has a solid group of people that surround him, with big hearts. His heart, however, is the biggest of them all.
If you would like to help this amazing cause, you can always donate a bear. They openly accept bear donations. Also, if you have an ill child or a child with a disability of any kind and would like to apply for a KareBear you can email [email protected] .
We love to hear these inspiring stories of artists who give back. We would love to say thank you to Christina Miller, Tabatha Brown and Kane Brown for being such bright lights in a dark world.
