As country fans are well aware, Kelly Clarkson is a rather versatile artist. She has joined vocal forces with many of country’s biggest names, including Mother-in-Law Reba, Jason Aldean, Vince Gill, Trisha Yearwood, Ronnie Dunn and Martina McBride. On tour she’s covered many of country’s biggest names including the Dixie Chicks, LeeAnn Womack, Tammy Wynette, Taylor Swift and Garth Brooks.
Yet, it turns out that in addition to being a pop powerhouse and a country crossover, Clarkson is quite the theater geek. Due to her love of Broadway, pop-opera star Josh Groban felt she was the perfect collaborator for a track on his new album, Stages.
“I’ve wanted to sing with Kelly for such a long time because she has one of the great powerhouse vocals in the whole business,” Groban said to The Huffington Post. “Kelly runs deep. She’s got all the light, all the dark. She makes incredibly sound artistic choices.”
He continues, “Everybody knows she can sing stratospherically in the pop world, but I wanted people to be blown away hearing her sing something that was totally different than what they’re used to. She took on this song and hit notes I’ve never heard her sing before.”

Hang out all the way until the end for the earth-shattering notes. I’m sobbing TBH, both for the song and for the fact that Clarkson has yet to release a country album.
