A #FirstKiss from Kid Rock for Country Music Radio

I was looking at songs looking for radio airplay  this week and saw Kid Rock’s “First Kiss” the title track from his album released earlier this year on the list.  It’s also kinda like my first kiss (& CMchatLIVE.com’s) with Kid Rock, ‘cept no tongue; just fingers flying across the keyboard cause we’ve never covered him before.

While not traditional country music (what is these days?) I am a big fan of Mr. Ritchie’s; in fact I tried to schedule a Country Music #CMchat Twitterview with him last week on 4-20 (ha). We thought it would’ve been hilarious, so let’s just pretend it happened.

“First Kiss” is not your GrandDaddy’s or prolly even your Papa’s Country, but it’s more Country than a lot of the stuff that has come across my desk. It’s a Country-fried Rock song with a virginal vulnerability in the lyrics, which talk about what I can remember being on the other end of a first kiss. The (tongue) twist that they are still together at the end is a bonus in this unexpected love song, making me wish I was the owner of the pair of lips that Kid rocked. Several listens in and this eger/Mellencamp-esque tune will be smooching your lips as you sing “it reminds me of my first kiss’ and have you cruising down the memory lane back to your own. It’s a fun dynamic song with lots of powerful guitar riffs and will definitely become a go-to on my ‘forever playlist’.

I definitely don’t hate this song, and would have liked it even more if Kid Rock had been our guest on #CMchat. I guess you could say Kid Rock would have made-out like a bandit on this review if he joined me for that chat…just saying. And Bob, I’ll be waiting for a real first kiss from you some day.

What do you think? Can’t wait to hear this on your radio or let’s not and say we did? Hit me up @JessicaNorthey on Twitter or give me crap here. I might read it.

PS…I’d love to know more about your first kiss in the comments below. Seriously…you tell me yours, and I’ll tell you mine.

Kid Rock First Kiss

Kid Rock “First Kiss” Lyrics

I remember waiting for the school bus
Jenny Clayton was my first crush
And neither one of us had a clue
An old Cheyenne it was my first truck
Rusted, rough and kinda beat up
But when she jumped in it felt brand new
And now these days when I drive through a small town
I turn my stereo up and roll my windows down
’Cause it reminds me of my first kiss
And those days that I always miss
Tom Petty on the radio
Going steady with nowhere to go
No money just time to spend
An old Chevy and a couple friends
Oh how I wish that I could go back in time
Just to love you again
I remember drinking from the same cup
We’d break up just to make up
I remember falling in love with you
Smokin’ cigarettes on the tailgate
Man it seems like it was yesterday
When Main Street felt like Park Avenue
And when I’m driving through any ol’ small town
I turn my stereo up and roll my windows down
’Cause it reminds me of my first kiss
And those times that I always miss
Tom Petty on the radio
Going steady with nowhere to go
No money just time to spend
An old Chevy and a couple friends
Oh how I wish that I could go back in time
When forever felt like it would never come
And we never thought we’d turn 21
So young we thought this could never end
Oh how I wish we could go back again
And now that time has taken over
And we can’t fight this getting older
But somehow baby we made it through
And every time I’m a lookin’ at you
It reminds me of my first kiss
And those days that I always miss
Tom Petty on the radio
Going steady with nowhere to go
No money just time to spend
An old Chevy and a couple friends
Oh how I wish that I could go back in time
Just to love you again
Just to love you again
Just to love you again
Just to love you again
Oh how I wish that I could go back in time

Everyone asks “what exactly do you do Jessica?” What some of my family members say, “she tweets for a living” is my favorite, but really the title that puts food on the table is “Social Media Influencer,” the definition sounds simple, someone who influences others through social media, but I consider myself a Citizen Journalist broadcasting and entertaining with news, thoughts, opinions, delivering information in my own unique way. Famous for my ‘sass wit and straight from the hip’ style I’ve always been called a “Social Media Pioneer” in the music industry. I’m also an On-Air/Online Broadcasting Host and Personality, Digital Media Strategist, Country and Music Blogger/Journalist as well as a Nationally recognized Speaker and Founder of Country Music Chat, News and Views Entertainment Website CMChatLIVE.com. My favorite accomplishment is starting the largest Country Music Hashtag community in the world Country Music’s #CMChat. It all started with a hunch...back in the early 2000’s I would dial up the internet via AOL and join chat rooms whilst watching my favorite programs on TV. Loved watching Reality Shows with my Mom in Tucson, and blowing her mind with how I always knew who was going home on the Bachelor or Big Brother. Don’t think she ever caught on that I was talking to people via computer on the East Coast, where it had already aired. (We didn’t have the uber-spoiler Twitter or Facebook to ruin results and awards shows for us yet.) I’ve been taking over the internet, one tweet at a time and have accumulated over 3 Million followers/friends/fans across all my Social Media networks. Over the years I’ve been consistently ranked as an influential online personality and even named as a Forbes Top 50 Social Media Power Influencer. I was the first person Merle Haggard followed when he got on Twitter and spent the day with Garth Brooks at Twitter and Facebook when joined the social media world.
