Kid Rock Receives 2014 #OperationTroopAid “Patriot Award”

You may know him from his American bad ass image or from some of his top hits such as his collaboration with Sheryl Crow titled “Picture” which charted at #4 on the Billboard Hot 100. Kid Rock is not only talented but continues to give back to those in need. His heart is as big as his vocal range and it just keeps getting bigger.

Operation Troop Aid is a non profit organization that supports our U.S. troops. They presented Kid Rock with the 2014 Operation Troop Aid ‘Patriot Award’ due to his continuing endeavors to show support to our troops overseas, in local hospitals and for consistently working with multiple military charities. OTA founder Mark Woods described the five time Grammy award nominee as the “most giving entertainer I have ever met. His art, legacy of family and spirit of patriotism is exactly why this award exists,” Woods commented.

Kid Rock also joins prior patriot award winners such as Hank Williams Jr, Charlie Daniels and Toby Keith among many others. However, this isn’t the first we’ve heard of Kid Rock’s amazing spirit and need to give back.

Sometime back, a young man with Down’s Syndrome posted a video to YouTube inviting the rock star to his 30th birthday party at a local restaurant. The video showed posters on his wall and his favorite Kid Rock treasures. It was safe to say this man was his biggest fan. After seeing the video Kid Rock just couldn’t say no. The video shows the singer surprising this young man at the restaurant by singing Happy Birthday to him. However, it’s not Kid Rock style to just attend a party and not bring gifts. He presented the young man with concert tickets, tshirts and more.

Kid Rock has sold nearly 25 million albums to date, but I bet if you asked him what his greatest accomplishment was, that wouldn’t even cross his mind. He continues to show the world the true meaning of being selfless, compassionate and kind hearted.
