Kip Moore isn’t the kind of guy to follow trends, so it’s no surprise his third studio album would define all odds. You won’t find a touch of pop country within its reach. Slowheart reflects the kind of artist that Moore has morphed into. Moore had full control over this project as he has co written 11 of the 13 tracks. A classic rock vibe flows from the singer’s raspy yet soulful vocals. It’s like nothing you’ve ever heard.
A timeless album from start to finish, Moore sings about a relationship he was rather naive about on “Just Another Girl” and yet takes us through his journey of stardom with the rock and roll ode “I’ve Been Around.” However, his untamed demeanor takes a back seat with the sentimental infused track “Try Again.” You won’t find much difference in this album compared to an 80’s rock album. Timeless rock and roll tracks are plentiful amongst this album as are the ballads.
Tracks such as “Plead The Fifth” and “Sun Burn” showcase a wide array of truth and uniqueness while the leading single from this album “More Girls Like You” keeps it simple yet intriguing.
Moore is respected and loved for being atypical. Slowheart is a depiction of growth and dexterity. Its classic and timeless essence is one that will linger on for many years. I also wouldn’t be surprised if it holds his next number one single as well. It’s certainly a creation of dedication and coherence. It’s damn good music.
