98.7 WMZQ is one of the largest country stations in the DMV area and they host the biggest country music concerts every year, WMZQ Fest. It’s an entire day full of tailgating, food, drinks, and well..country music.
An array of artists was scheduled to perform on the WMZQ side stage. Jackie Lee was first to perform and he is good stuff. A performance full of energy and grit, Jackie Lee made a huge impact on the crowd.
Female powerhouse Brooke Eden followed with a bang. She is sassy and extremely likable in today’s mainstream world. She has a natural talent that can’t be denied.
Also included in the line-up was country music newcomer Morgan Wallen, who is musically brilliant. If you don’t know him yet, you will soon. This guy has potential.
Last, the hot new trio Midland. They’re new single “Drinkin’ Problem” is making it’s way up the charts. Their old-time country style is catchy and fun.
On the main stage was Lady Antebellum’s You Look Good Tour and it was highly anticipated. Brett Young was the first opener and it was pretty damn good. He performed songs such as “Close Enough” and his hit singles “Sleep Without You” and “In Case You Didn’t Know.” Young has pure talent through and through. His authentic vocals mixed with his specialty for songwriting was exceptional to see live.
Superstar Kelsea Ballerini was near flawless with her set. Ballerini is special, she has something that just hits you. She is genuine and so naturally crafted that it makes you smile deep within. An entertaining set with songs such as “Dibs” and her breakout single “Love Me Like You Mean It” slowly turned into an intimate moment sharing some new music that can be heard on Ballerini’s upcoming album. When you see a Kelsea Ballerini performance live, you see why she is one of the hottest female artists today. She is bad ass.
Headlining act Lady Antebellum was the highlight of the night. Such a well-rounded tour with such passion and art, it was such a breath of fresh air to watch this band on stage. It truly was a magical and charming set. They soared through songs such as “Our Kind Of Love” and “American Honey” all the while melting hearts with tracks like “Away With My Heart” and “Need You Now.”
You Look Good Tour is full of surprises!
Brett Young performs a duet with the band, while Hilary and Kelsea get down with their bad selves on a certain duet. Also, they bring out a full marching band for “You Look Good.” It was absolutely the most talented and well put together tour I have witnessed this year.
Lady Antebellum are amazing singers, performers, and songwriters. They are inspiring, generous, and God loving people, which pours into their tour and is very evident. Lady Antebellum totally deserves an Entertainer Of The Year award and soon!
