Where are you answering these questions from and what are you wearing?
I’m in my home studio.
What’s your official title and favorite thing about what you do?
I’m a Country Music Artist. My favorite thing about being a country music artist is the fans. I love connecting with my fans!
What are three things you CANNOT live without?
I would say God, My Friends and Family…and Music (my friends are like family so I counted them as one).
What’s the first concert you’ve ever attended?
Hunter Hayes at the Grand Ole Opry. It was especially exciting for me because I had been performing as a Hunter Hayes tribute artist in Myrtle Beach, SC that summer. Hunter later invited me to perform with him at the Carolina Country Music Festival…That performance was the inspiration for two of my songs “Big Show” and “Country Music Fans.”
How long have you been playing music?
I’ve spent half of my life playing music…Nearly seven years.
What’s the hardest life lesson you’ve learned?
I lost my grandpaw last year and learned that I should appreciate every day I have with the ones that I love.
Do you have a favorite restaurant or hang out spot?
Kelsea Ballerini showed up to one of your shows recently, how did that go?
It was incredible. Me and my dad wrote a response to “Peter Pan” called “Lost Boy” and Ms. Kelsea sent me a tweet that said “Oh my heavens…Landon that’s brilliant. Come to a show and let me hug you!!!” I was leaving Myrtle Beach, SC to perform in Nashville and she was leaving Nashville to perform in Myrtle Beach so we missed each other. Finally we were in Nashville at the same time and she came to see me perform it at the Bluebird Café! I tweeted her that morning that I would be “performing ‘Lost Boy’ at the Bluebird in case you don’t have any plans” I had no idea that she would actually show up!! She was amazing! After I finished “Lost Boy” she came up on the stage, borrowed my guitar, and sang “Peter Pan” to me! Then she kissed me on the cheek! Of all the performances that I’ve had at the Bluebird Café, this was by far the best! It was Incredible!!! As you can tell in the YouTube video, I was speechless except for occasionally uttering the words “yes Ma’am.”
Who is your favorite country singer from the 90s?
Garth Brooks. I like the way his songs tell a story.
If you could duet with any female artist, who would you pick and why?
Kelsea Ballerini. She is an amazing performer.
Do you have a favorite place to perform?
The Bluebird Café!
What’s one gift you will never forget?
My first guitar. You never forget your first guitar.
What current event has your eyes and ears? What are you doing about it?
One cause that really has my heart right now is finding a cure for cancer. I have a little buddy named Kaldyn that is six-years-old battling stage 3 brain cancer. I was in Nashville last month performing at a benefit concert to help with his medical bills. He was there at the concert and I got to sing to him my song, “One World At A Time” that I wrote just for him. Kaldyn is one of the bravest people I know…And I can’t begin to tell you how good it felt to make him smile.
How do you think songwriters play a vital role in music today?
Without songwriters, there would be no music.
What’s one superpower you wish you had?
You’re making your favorite sandwich…what’s on it?
Buffalo Chicken, Ranch and Cheese.
Name one artist of any genre besides country that you are a fan of and tell us why?
Stevie Ray Vaughan. He is a blues legend! He felt every note he played.
What makes you laugh out loud?
Those goats that scream like humans on YouTube.
Fill in the blank: It’s not a party until…
…the music starts!
Fill in the blank: Country music has made me…
Well, it’s not so much what country music has made me. I think it’s more what it has given me. Country Music has given me the most amazing fans that anyone could ever have. The bridge in my song “Country Music Fans” says it all!
I don’t have to say I’m sorry
If I mention God to you
You know my favorite colors
Are red white and blue
Just for a moment
Turn off my spotlight
So I can see the faces
Of the real stars here tonight
