Single Review: Lauren Alaina – Road Less Traveled

During American Idol Season 10 we witnessed Lauren Alaina’s quirky personality, sassy nature and extremely powerful vocals as she stole the hearts of millions of Idol fans nationwide.

Her new single “Road Less Traveled,” which she co-wrote with pop singer Meghan Trainor and Jesse Frasure, was just released via Mercury Nashville and is a fine example of how the 21 year old star has grown into a self-assured young lady after years of battling an eating disorder.

In a world where it seems country music women have been denied the credibility they deserve, Alaina released this uplifting tune into the universe. The up-tempo track is laced with some pop and rock melodies which compliments Alaina’s inspirational message to listeners who may be facing challenges in their own lives. As she sings lyrics such as “Wear out your boots and kick up the gravel don’t be afraid, take the road less traveled on” she expresses the desire to follow the beat of her own drum and believes that everyone should do the same. It’s a story of trusting yourself, following your heart, and becoming fearless. Alaina portrays empowerment and self-worth in this anthem of confidence. “Road Less Traveled” is easily enjoyable and perfectly written for country radio.

“Road Less Traveled” is a wonderful anthem for those facing personal battles (especially young women). The song has an upbeat vibe while still producing a deep message. If I didn’t know any better, I would say the Georgia native just found herself a hit single.
