As a country music fan I always welcome opportunities to meet an artist performing that night. It’s a huge blessing. If I’ve been following that artist’s music for an extended amount of time, the meeting is even more anticipated and rewarding to me. This summer at the 99.5 WYCD Hoedown I finally had the chance to meet Lindsay Ell. Not only is she a ridiculously talented guitarist, but she’s also a genuinely beautiful person inside and out. Here’s your chance to get know her a little better and I hope you will attend one of her shows if she’s ever in your area!
You played the Hoedown for the first time two years ago? What was your first reaction walking out on that stage?
Honestly I had no idea people were going to be as excited about the Hoedown as they were. You know the band and I were just sort of thinking, OK we’re going to go up to Detroit and play and when we arrived we thought, holy cow this is insane. There’s so many of them just ready to have a good time and I’m so happy we were able to come back and play here again.
You played a slightly smaller stage than the main stage this year but there’s no doubt you’ll be on that bill in the near future. Here’s a fun question for you: When you get to headline a show and you could choose ANYBODY to be your opener, who it would be?
Oh my goodness, if I could choose anybody? Well let’s go with up-and-coming acts right now because there are so many amazing ones. It would probably have to be Cam or Lucie Silvas or Brett Young…there’s so many people I could name.
Where can fans find your music to become more familiar with who you are?
You can definitely find me on both Spotify and iTunes, that’s where all my singles are available. I’m a bit of a social media fanatic so you can always find me posting little bits of what I’ve been up to. You can find me on Instagram, Twitter, SnapChat. All of the accounts are the same and we made it simple : @LindsayEll.
After getting a chance to chat with Lindsay Ell I felt a little extra pride as a fan. It’s truly a blessing knowing one of Canada’s most talented female country artists is doing so well in Nashville. As one of CMT’s Next Women of Country, Lindsay Ell is in a category of amazing women that includes Brandy Clark, Cam, Cassadee Pope, Kelleigh Bannen and multiple others who are no doubt making a name for themselves with the hope of having long-lasting and successful careers.
Lindsay Ell’s new single “All Alright” came out just a few weeks ago and is currently being played on Sirius XM The Highway’s On The Horizon segment. She’s also currently touring across America and making occasional appearances with various artists such as Eric Paslay and Kip Moore. I travel internationally to support musicians I believe have changed my life.
I hope to one day work for a company that is both historical and musical.
