The most wonderful time of the year is about to get a whole lot more wonderful this year. While Little Big Town are currently riding the wave of “Girl Crush” hitting #1, they’re also hard at work on a Christmas album to hopefully be released later this year.
While chatting with ABC Radio, LBT’s Phillip Sweet opened up about the quarter’s forthcoming dose of Yuletide cheer that they’ll begin recording next month. As for what fans can expect, Sweet promises old classics and future favorites. “I think you have to really address the classics,” Phillip says. “I think that’s what people want to hear. Of course, we want to do some originals.”
Phillip adds, “We always want to do something a little different, but always still fresh but at the same time familiar and beautiful.”
Sweet also opened up about a broken bone in his right hand that he injured while preparing for the ACM Awards. Surprisingly, Sweet didn’t injure himself while “Day Drinking,” riding a “Pontoon” or hiding from a “Tornado” on “Your Side of the Bed,” but while packing his suitcase. He hit his hand into a door, breaking his hand. Luckily for him, he says, “All will be well. No surgery required.” Luckily for LBT fans, the injury won’t prevent him from hitting the studio to roast some chestnuts with his bandmates.
Can we expect a Holiday remix of “Girl Crush”? We’ll call it “Elf Crush.”
It may only be April, but get in the Holiday spirit with Little Big Town’s performance from 2014’s CMA Country Christmas.
