LOCASH, formerly known as LoCash Cowboys, consists of Preston Brust and Chris Lucas, a duo that combines soul, rock, funk, pop, hip-hop, and gospel to create its own version of country music. Brust was born in Dermott, Arkansas and grew up Indiana, while Lucas was born and raised outside Baltimore, Maryland. It wasn’t until the two moved to Nashville to pursue musical careers that they met and discovered a shared passion for integrating different genres of music into country. LoCash self-released its debut album, LoCash Cowboys, in 2008, giving way to a record contract with Stroudavarious Records. Two singles, “Here Comes Summer” and “Keep in Mind”, hailed from the album, paving the path for the release of another full-length record in 2011. LoCash later signed with Average Joe’s Entertainment, releasing another album titled LoCash Cowboys, yielding well-known single “C.O.U.N.T.R.Y.”, which was later re-cut as a mix with country hick hop star, Colt Ford. Brust and Lucas also have writing credits for other artists, including Keith Urban’s “You Gonna Fly” and Tim McGraw’s “Truck Yeah”. In late 2014-early 2015, Brust and Lucas rebranded themselves, dropping the “Cowboys” from their band name and reemerging as LOCASH, complete with a new record deal with Reviver Records. Their song “I Love This Life” was released as a single, leading into their next album of the same name, which will be released on February 23rd.
