Kristian Bush started writing music at the age of 13 at Pick’n”Grin music store in East Tennessee. His interest became so great that his mom bought him 2 hours at a local recording studio. He pumped out as many songs as he could in those 2 hours and sold them to his young friends. This sparked an interest that would take him to places he never dreamed possible.
Although Kristian didn’t set out to write country songs, thats what the music sounded like when it hit the studio. He says, “the honesty of country music speaks to listeners more than any other genre. Its like hearing someone speak your feelings that you have on the inside. If for some reason I don’t have the words that day, someone else does.”
Kristian is half of the duo Sugarland that has won countless awards, sold 22 million albums and had 8 number 1 singles. Now, he is successfully embarking on his solo career. He says that song ideas come from just listening to the world around him, the way people talk and looking for things with deeper meaning. “Love or Money”, his first single as a solo artist, happened by accident as many do. Matt Thiessen had recently relocated to the area and Kristian asked him, “Did you come here for love, or money? They looked at each other and knew a song had been born.
