Luke Bryan’s current single, “Roller Coaster,” has won the hearts of country music fans (as do all of Luke’s releases). Substantiating the support “Roller Coaster” has received from fans, the song recently motored all the way uphill to the Number 1 spot on the charts.
“Roller Coaster” marks Luke’s eleventh consecutive Number 1 single and the fifth in a row off his double platinum album Crash My Party. Proving himself as a chart-topper across the board, the album that garnered five of the eleven hit songs is his second straight record to reach Number 1 and be certified double platinum.
When Luke first heard his latest hit, he knew immediately it was a song that he wanted in his catalog and, specifically, on Crash My Party:
The first time I heard it, it was one of the first songs that I knew would be on Crash My Party. I listened to it, and it just floored me – the visuals of it, and obviously the fact that I grew up going to the beach – and the guys who wrote it, Michael Carter and Cole Swindell, have been in my life for years. The fact that they wrote something so spectacular made me excited. It’s one thing to record one of my buddies’ song, but when you feel like it’s going to be a great song and single, you’re very excited about that.
In an episode of Cole’s Swindell Vision, he discussed writing the song, explaining that the first lyric he wrote down was “she had a cross around her neck,” followed by “and a flower in her hair.” Cole called “Roller Coaster” a really special track for him and said how blessed he and Michael Carter are to have had Luke record it.
Congratulations to Luke on his latest hit, as well as to Cole and Michael on penning such a beautiful song that has resonated with country music fans everywhere. To hear more about the inspiration of “Roller Coaster,” watch the video below.
