[email protected] Perform “Girl in a Country Song” on @Letterman

Did you happen to miss new female country duo Maddie and Tae performing their current single “Girl in a Country Song” on Late Show with David Letterman on Friday, September 13? No worries, you know Country Music Chat #CMchat’s got your back. Go ahead and check it out below:

Maddie Marlow and Taylor Dye blew onto the scene after their signing with Dot Records in June 2014 with their very catchy, and at the times, somewhat “controversial” debut single “Girl in a Country Song” that pokes fun at many popular “bro-country” tunes. Maddie Marlow grew up in Sugar Land, Texas, performing in talent shows and writing songs. Meanwhile in Ada, Oklahoma, Tae Dye mastered the National Anthem by singing at her older brothers’ baseball tournaments and competition in festivals. At the age of 15, the pair met through their vocal coach — who had an operation in Houston, near Maddie, and in Dallas, two hours from Tae — during a showcase in North Texas. That meeting led to one of many writing trips together to Nashville, and eventually, an introduction to VP of Big Machine Music, Mike Molinar, and his writer Aaron Scherz. It also led to the formal formation of Maddie and Tae. One song in particular sent their lives in a whole new direction. “Girl in a Country Song,” is the pair’s take on the reality of what men say they’re expecting from the fairer sex. The tune pokes fun at few songs you may know, but the girls assure you, it’s all in good fun.
