Country music’s favorite television drama, Nashville, seems to be imitating real life. With Connie Britton’s character (Rayna James) starting her own label, it looks like country superstar and arguably the best female voice in all of country music Martina McBride is doing the same.
Martina’s label’s first release will be a cover album called “Everlasting” and will have McBride singing 14 classics including “If You Don’t Know Me By Now,” by Harold Melvin & the Bluenotes, “Do Right Woman, Do Right Man,” popularized by Aretha Franklin, and a due with Gavin DeGraw on Sam Cooke’s “Bring It on Home to Me”. Other tracks include songs written by Elvis Presley, Van Morrison and The Supremes.
“I think my fans will love this record because they are some of the best songs of all time done in a very classic style. I’m so excited for them to hear it and to take this record, complete with a horn section, on the road in the spring.” – Martina McBride
This will be the “Independence Day” singer’s second cover album. The first, “Timeless” which released in 2005, went on to be the fastest selling album of her career.
You can expect the “Everlasting” album to be released on March 4.
And we wish you a Martina Christmas! Check out her holiday album released this past September on itunes.
