While many artists rely on their singles to garner new fans, that’s not the case for Michael Ray, whose debut Warner Music Nashville single “Kiss You in the Morning” officially hit radio and iTunes today. Ray has already established a solid fanbase via his live shows, social media and a brief stint on reality TV.
The track showcases Ray’s gravelly voice, mixed with punchy country rock instrumentation that makes it a solid choice for a first release. The chorus is earwormy and will have you immediately singing along. It’s the perfect introductory track to those who are not yet familiar with Ray, as its a solid reflection of his style. His voice booms over the instrumentation, recalling the likes of Ray’s influences Gary Allan and Eric Church, while adding his unique spin on country music.
While “Kiss You in the Morning” may be his official debut single, Ray already showcased his sound on his 2014 Tour Bootleg, released in support of his opening shows for the likes of Chase Rice and Sam Hunt.
In addition to “Kiss You in the Morning,” chances are high that you’ve already heard a Michael Ray song, as he co-wrote “Run Away With You,” Big & Rich‘s current single. Plus, #CMChat named Michael Ray as “One to Watch” in 2015 and this single shows why.
