Miranda Lambert recently wrapped up her Certified Platinum Tour in Connecticut after spending several months on the road with some of her closest colleagues and friends. One of those very special tour mates was Ashley Monroe, a fellow former Pistol Annie and longtime best friend to the ACM Female Vocalist of the Year.
Having Ashley by her side for a portion of the tour must have been quite meaningful to the “Little Red Wagon” riding superstar, and what better way to show the importance of that time together than by closing the tour with an emotional duet about friendship? The two joined forces center stage for a cover of James Taylor’s 1971 Number 1 hit (penned by Carole King), “You’ve Got a Friend,” sharing moments of hand-holding and loving glances, showing that the lyrics run deep for the BFFs.
As the tour drew to an end, imagine how emotional it was for Miranda to turn the page in her book and leave the memories behind, but perhaps having Ashley there to lend a helping hand made the transition smoother. Ashley explained the sentimental moment in a statement:
That moment, to be on stage with her, the last night of this huge tour, looking at each other singing “all you have to do is call and I’ll be there,” it was really emotional. You can tell our love for each other is so real and there’s such a strong bond there. And also to look out at the crowd and just be so grateful.
