It is no secret that Miranda Lambert’s hit song “Over You” is an emotional one for the Female Vocalist of the Year. Originally penned in memory of her husband, Blake Shelton’s, brother, the song has been difficult for Miranda to deliver on several occasions due to its origin.
At a recent Chorpus Christi, Texas show, Miranda began the song as rehearsed, traversing the stage and playing to her fans. As Miranda made her way to stage right and down the catwalk, she knelt down, grabbed the hand of a young fan in a pink cowboy hat and surgical mask, hung her head and cried. Miranda was unable to continue singing after connecting with the fan (who was later identified as seven-year-old Brooke Hester) and simply held her microphone up in the air for audience assistance. Of course, the audience obliged, carrying Miranda through the remainder of the song that tugs at everybody’s heart strings.
Perhaps Miranda has molded herself in country fans’ minds as a hard person with gunpowder and lead mentality, but truth be told, the starlet has a golden heart and cares deeply for people. This is just one more example of the kind and caring soul that is Miranda Lambert.
Hug your children tonight and say a prayer for Brooke Hester, a warrior who has been battling cancer for half her life. Brooke, you are in our hearts, thoughts, and prayers. Keep fighting the beautiful fight.
