It may seem almost “Automatic” that Miranda Lambert would dip her toes into the acting world, but despite appearing on a 2012 episode of Law & Order: SVU, the singer has yet to do much dabbling in acting…until now. According to Country Weekly, Mrs. Shelton has landed a role in the upcoming Trey Fanjoy and Cindy McCreery film, Something in the Water.
Fanjoy’s name may sound familiar to country fans, as he’s directed many of your favorite videos, most recently including Miranda’s jailhouse collaboration with Carrie Underwood, “Something Bad.”
“With over a dozen award-winning collaborations with Miranda, I’ve no doubt Trey’s transition into features will be equally successful,” said Lambert’s manager Marion Kraft of Shopkeeper Management to Deadline Hollywood.
The film is a comedy, reportedly being described as in the vein of Bridesmaids and Steel Magnolia with a strong female cast. It is being described by Deadline as “a multi-generational ensemble piece set in the heartland.” Lambert will play one of five women who challenges their men to a bass fishing tournament. No word yet on if hubby Blake Shelton will appear, but if the flick’s about fishing, he sure seems like the perfect catch!
Although we have yet to see much of Miranda’s acting, she shines in her roles in her music videos, ranging stylistically from “Somethin’ Bad” to “The House That Built Me” to “Only Prettier.” Below, she discusses her first role on SVU, where she played an aspiring singer who gets attacked.
