Mamas [Don’t] Let Your Babies Grow Up To Be Country Stars

mothers day country music

Country music has always been known for it’s bad boy image. Even years ago in the outlaw days, Waylon Jennings and Johnny Cash set the standards for country music’s future bad boys. Have you ever wondered about the women who raised these gentle, yet rough & rowdy, souls? In celebration of Mother’s Day, here are seven men of country music and their fearless mothers.

1. Brantley Gilbert and his mother Becky

When Brantley sang the lyrics “It must’ve been hell on an angel, lovin’ the devil out of me” he basically admitted to the world he was a handful growing up. Well, his mama had to do something right because he sure is a kind soul. Looks like this rock ‘n’ roll mama did a spectacular job. No, really!

2. Jordan Rager and his mother Connie

Jordan is best known for being on The Voice as well as opening up for Justin Moore during his Off the Beaten Tour. Jordan has a wild side and a touch of outlaw travels in his blood stream. Jordan is also extremely kindhearted and, if you know his mama Connie, then you know he is living up to his raisin’. She is a mother to all boys and she runs a tight ship. Way to go, Mama!

3. Jake Owen and his mother Mitzi

It’s been told Jake’s mom likes to get down on the dance floor every now and again, which isn’t surprising if you have ever seen Jake perform live. Those hips have a lot of shake in em’. I think we all could agree, we are thankful for Jake Owen’s mom. I mean, look at the smile. Geez.

4. Blake Shelton and his mom Dorothy

Dorothy, bless your heart! It couldn’t have been easy raising a man with no filter. However, I guess the southern hospitality and kind nature makes up for it all. Right? I have a feeling Blake’s mom is just as sassy. Don’t mess with Mama!

5. Luke Bryan and his mom LeClaire

She’s just as much of a hoot as he is and it’s no surprise that he holds the title for funniest country music singer (yes! I gave him that title folks!) We would like to give a round of applause to Luke’s mom, LeClaire. Thank you for giving us such a fun and goofy soul. Also, thank you…I mean realllllyyyy thank you…for Luke’s ass shaking abilities.

6. Chris Young and his mom Becky

Tennessee native Chris Young is so full of sweetness. He obviously got raised with a lot of compassion and dedication. The sweetest soul in country music must have had one hell of a sweet mama! I mean, just look at that picture, would ya?

7. Scotty McCreery and his mom Judy

Scotty was a class act on his season of American Idol and continues to amaze his audiences with his gentleman like ways. He is a young man with an old soul. We would like to give credit to Scotty’s mom Judy for bringing up one amazing young man. Plus, we enjoy his talent. Keep on keepin’ on, Mama!

We think all of our country stars have wonderful moms who raised truly talented individuals. Who is your favorite country star mama? Tweet me @brittwv.
