Its possible that you don’t know them as “Music City Hit Makers” but there is no doubt your life has been touched by them. They have written some of the most influential songs in history. Their dynamic storytelling crosses genres and generations. This 4 pack of sensational songwriters include Hillary Lindsey, Brett James, Troy Verges and Gordie Sampson.
Hillary Lindsey began writing at the age of 10 in a small town in Georgia. She further developed her skills at Belmont University and was signed to a publishing deal before she even graduated. Her songs have crossed into the big screen with movies such as Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants and onto the small screen being featured in Nashville ABC.
Oklahoma City native, Brett James, passion for songwriting bleeds through his every word. He received his first album cut in 2000 and went on to have more than 300 of his songs recorded by major artists. He is a 2 time ASCAP Songwriter of the Year and known as one of Nashville’s most versatile songwriters.
Troy Verges knew from a young age that he wanted to record his own songs. He is credited with writing some of the hottest songs in country music today. Most recently his song, “Wanted”, recorded by Hunter Hayes won the BMI Song of the Year Award.
Gordie Sampson began his career with Celtic influence, due to his upbringing in Nova Scotia. He moved to Nashville in 2005 and within a year achieved unparalleled success. His songs, deeply rooted in real life experiences, have been recognized time and time again by the industry.
The group seems to have the most success collaborating together. Gordie Sampson, Brett James and Hillary Lindsey wrote a song about the death of one of Gordie’s friends to a car accident on a Nova Scotia highway. “Jesus Take the Wheel” recorded by Carrie Underwood stayed at the #1 spot on Billboard Charts for over 6 weeks. The song won the trio a grammy for Best Country Song, ACM Single of the Year Award, ASCAP Song of the Year and a host of other awards.
