Tonight’s #CMchat guest, Natalie Stovall, along with her band, “The Drive,” is releasing a new single to iTunes tomorrow. “Mason Jar” is the follow-up to the group’s Top 50 debut song “Baby Come On with It.” Both songs are expected to be on the band’s debut album, which will be released on Hitshop/Warner Brothers Records.
“Mason Jar” features Natalie’s deep, sultry, and strong vocals; complementary background vocals from the Drive; and heavy strings and percussion supplied by the talented band. The background vocals are especially prevalent on this song, creating a new layer to the track, echoing Natalie’s lead and supplementing it beautifully.
The track is an ode to a man who has the right amount of something to send Natalie into a natural drunken state of bliss, and this joyful buzz is not something Natalie wants to lose. In fact, when Natalie feels like the love (or lust) is even slightly wearing off, she immediately goes back for one more sample of this intoxicating male. The chorus cleverly goes:
When your lovin’ hits my lips, you burn me up inside. Your homegrown recipe’s got me howlin’ while that moon shines. One dose of your sweet medicine takes me a little too far. Give me that remedy, let me sip you from a mason jar.
It is simply impossible to listen to this song and not want another glassful of what Natalie Stovall and the Drive is serving up. “Mason Jar” is a fun, uplifting song that approaches a woman’s attraction to a man in a unique way that will leave Natalie Stovall and the Drive fans excited to find out what else they will discover on the group’s upcoming full-length album.
