This week was yet another big week in the Brooks/Yearwood household – Garth is racing up the charts and Trisha is not far behind with her single that doesn’t officially release until this week. We here at #CMchat have the couple battling it out in our Digital Duel this week – click here to vote for your favorite between the new singles. It should also be a big week for Josh Turner who is finally getting us music from his latest project. Be aware of new voices as well like Jackie Lee and chat friend, Ashliegh Lisset.
Trisha Yearwood (feat. Kelly Clarkson) – PrizeFighter
Trisha Yearwood is currently in the spotlight on Garth’s World Tour that kicked off in Chicago, but you don’t need to wait to see a show to hear new music. She releases “PrizeFighter,” a song featuring Kelly Clarkson, to country radio this week. It’s been quite a few years since we’ve heard new music from this country heavy-hitter, so it’s no surprise that she saved up a hit for her comeback. The song is already impacting radio.
Josh Turner – Lay Low
It’s been a few years since we’ve heard new music from Josh Turner. He took a break to be a father, but continued to tour occasionally. His new single is titled “Lay Low” and is expected to be included on his sixth studio album next year. I’d buy anything with Josh’s voice backing it, but the song itself is solidly written and masterfully produced. I can’t wait to hear more from this project.
Jackie Lee – She Does
Broken Bow Records‘ latest hope lies in Jackie Lee. The 22-year-old country new comer has influences as far back as Michael McDonald and Bob Seger, but likes to add a little Justin Timberlake to his playlist as well. His debut single is on a topic we all can relate to – love! I’m sure we will hear more of Jackie Lee in the future, but be sure to request “She Does” in the meantime.
Pat Green (feat. Lyle Lovett) – Girls From Texas
If you ask anyone about Texas country, Pat Green is sure to be a name that rolls off their tongue. It’s been a while since Pat’s released new music and he isn’t traveling far from home to find something to sing about. He has recruited the help of Lyle Lovett to sing about “Girls From Texas”. Give the song a listen to hear some Texas country.
Ashliegh Lisset – Target On My Heart
Only 19 years old, Ashliegh Lisset has the voice of a seasoned veteran. She built quite the following with her last single, “Kill The Headlights” that was written by her idol, Carrie Underwood. “Target On My Heart” is yet another song to get her name out there in the country music world. I hope to hear a lot more of Ashliegh in the future!
More songs you will hear on radio this week:
Olivia Lane – Steal Me Away
Larry Fleet – Damn This Storm
Tim Cadiere – Hop In My Truck
Tim Sweeney – Every Friday Night
