[email protected]’ #TheBestOfMe Soundtrack Goes Country

Anyone who is a Nicholas Sparks fan, like me, can likely predict a few things about any book (and later movie) that is released by this reliable and talented author. First, you can predict that the story will take place in some gorgeous town in North Carolina. Second, no matter how much you force this thought out of your head, someone will die. They have either already died (so you haven’t met them and the loss won’t hit you nearly as hard) or they die once you fall in love with them; but the truth remains, there will inevitably be a death. Third, you will cry. You will cry so much that you should proactively purchase stock in Kleenex because you will singlehandedly feed the company’s employees and children for a year. And, finally, Sparks’ books are so visual, so beautiful, so intriguing, and melt hearts worldwide so frequently that they are often adapted into screenplays and come to life in theaters.

With that being said, Nicholas Sparks is hitting the silver screen again with The Best of Me, a story of high school sweethearts who separate and later reunite at a classmate’s funeral. There will be romance, conflict, laughter, tears, and everything else one can come to expect from Sparks. However, this time, there will also be a soundtrack chock full of country music. In fact, you will be hard pressed not to find at least one of your favorite country artists included on the album.

Perhaps one of the most widely discussed songs from The Best of Me at this point is Lady Antebellum’s “I Did With You,” a track the trio penned with Monty Powell. Lady A and Powell wrote the song specifically for the movie, being inspired by the Sparks novel. The entire track listing is as follows:

1. Lady Antebellum, “I Did With You”
2. Hunter Hayes, “Dream Girl”
3. SHEL and Gareth Dunlop, “Hold On”
4. Colbie Caillat, “In Love Again”
5. Thomas Rhett, “The Way Things Go”
6. Thompson Square, “Borrowed Time”
7. Kip Moore, “Lead Me”
8. Kacey Musgraves, “Love Is A Liar”
9. Lady Antebellum, “Falling For You”
10. Eric Paslay, “Rain From Heaven”
11. David Nail, “All The Way”
12. Eli Young Band, “Unchanged”
13. Cowboy Junkies, “Sweet Jane”
14. Phoebe Hoffman, “Crossroads”
