The Grand Ole Opry, otherwise known as the show that made country music famous, is gearing up to celebrate it’s 40th anniversary since moving to its permanent home, the Grand Ole Opry House. The jam packed weekend (March 15-16) will feature special performances by Miranda Lambert and Blake Shelton, the reigning King & Queen of Country Music!
Clint Black, Diamond Rio, Josh Turner, Bill Anderson, Green River Ordinance, Connie Smith, The Whites, Bobby Osborne & The Rocky Top X-Press, Riders in the Sky, Jean Shepard and Jeannie Seely will also be on hand for the musical extravaganza. That’ll be a sight to see, for sure!
This 40th landmark occasion will lead up to next year’s (2015) 90th anniversary since the Opry was founded on Nov. 28, 1925. It’s rich history is chronicled in the March 15-release of Backstage at the Grand Ole Opry, penned by Dan Rogers and Brenda Colladay (who will sign copies of the book on Sunday the 16th).
Coming up on March 27, fans will also be able to enjoy some of songs that set the foundation for the genre in a series called Opry Country Classics. Every Thursday, you’ll be able to sojourn downtown Nashville to the Ryman Auditorium, the original home of the Opry, for special performances.
