Just a month after being announced as the first ever artist signed to Nash Icon Music, a collaboration between Big Machine Label Group and Cumulus Media, we have even more exciting Reba McEntire news. The Queen of Country music and media maven will receive the inaugural NASH Icon Award during the Florida Georgia Line-hosted American Country Countdown Awards, airing from Nashville’s Music City Center on FOX on Monday, Dec. 15.
The award will be presented to Reba by longtime friend, collaborator and Cumulus Radio Personality, Kix Brooks, during the telecast. Additionally, she will be honored by daughter-in-law Kelly Clarkson and Miranda Lambert, who will perform her classic songs and fan-favorite hits. Speaking to Country Weekly, Reba couldn’t be happier about those chosen to honor her. “I’m really proud of both ladies and the way they represent the females in music, and they work hard and they have in their mind the way they want to do it, and that’s the way I always was.”
“Besides being one of the classiest people to ever grace Nashville, Tennessee, Reba has not just done it her way, but she’s gotten all of her recognition the old fashioned way,” said Brooks in a statement. “She’s earned it and I’ve been blessed with the opportunity to tour with her dragging 21 trucks and 19 buses around, and to hear her sing by the campfire. Besides being a talented actor and host, she is seriously one of the best singers I’ve ever heard. Reba sings with her head, her heart and that amazing voice. She’s a treasure Nashville should forever be grateful for…Congratulations Red!”
