[email protected] to Release #TakeYourTime as Next Single (Watch a Live Performance!)

While Sam Hunt’s Number 1 song “Leave the Night On” is still prominent on satellite and terrestrial radio, a new track has emerged as Hunt’s reported next single. “Take Your Time” has made its way into the regular rotation on Sirius XM The Highway and it was announced yesterday that, even though Hunt has not yet made it official, it will in fact be the next release from album Montevallo.

A song with obvious R&B influences that is a hybrid of the spoken and sung word, “Take Your Time” tells the tale of a man who wants to borrow a few moments with a woman he is admiring. In attempting to make her understand his mission, Hunt sings:

I don’t want to steal your freedom, I don’t want to change your mind, I don’t have to make you love me, I just want to take your time. And I don’t want to wreck your Friday, I ain’t gonna waste my lies, I don’t have to take your heart, I just want to take your time.

Hunt further sings about understanding a female’s perception of a male making an unrequited advance, but believing that perhaps the infatuation is reciprocal, considering she hasn’t yet removed herself from the situation. As the tide seems to turn a bit, Hunt then croons:

I don’t want to steal your freedom, I don’t want to change your mind, I don’t have to make you love me, I just want to take your time. And I don’t have to meet your mother, we don’t have to cross that line, I don’t want to steal your covers, I just want to take your time.

“Take Your Time” is an incredibly unique song that couldn’t have been delivered better by anybody else. Hunt is a perfect candidate for this combination of sweet talking and smooth singing, as any woman to whom this tune was presented would be more than willing to give him as much time as he needed. Following the faster paced “Leave the Night On,” “Take Your Time” is a more vulnerable offering by Hunt, showing off his innate ability to dance all over country music, cross boundaries, create new styles, and knock it out of the park with every note.

If you weren’t a Hunt fan before this song, you certainly will be after. Sit back and allow yourself to be mesmerized by the musical magic that this hit-maker can pull out of his flat-brimmed baseball hat.
