In January, Alabama native Shane Owens was #CMchat’s One To Watch Artist. Owens’ traditional country approach is certainly appealing. In a world where country music is like an endangered species that has been taken over by pop and rock influence, Owens stands true to what the genre is really all about.
Owens, who proudly released his debut single “Country Never Goes Out Of Style,” via Amerimonte Records, has been performing in nightclubs all over the southeast for more than a decade.
Owens’ debut single is a pleasant song that resembles 90s country music to the fullest. Lyrically, it’s as southern as sweet tea — “Let the whole world keep on changing, I’ll just be a-hangin’ outside of town a couple of miles, ’cause country never goes out of style.” The melody is simple and the strum of the six-string is incorporated with a soothing touch. Owens’ vocals are as pure and strong as 100 proof White Lightening.
For the “Country Never Goes Out Of Style” music video, Owens had a little help from Country Music Hall of Fame inductee Randy Travis who made a cameo.
Authentic in every form, Owens is a fearless and gifted individual. When you hear an artist like Shane Owens for the first time, it’s a breath of fresh air, hopefulness and proof that country never goes out of style.
