Frankie Ballard is currently one of country music’s hottest male artists after his last three singles “Helluva Life,” “Sunshine & Whiskey” and “Young & Crazy” all went to No. 1 with ease.
His new single “It All Started With A Beer,” via Warner Music Nashville, isn’t a song we would consider to be Ballard’s “norm.” “It All Started With A Beer,” written by Jaren Johnston, Neil Mason and Jeremy Stover, is a mid-tempo ballad that tells a rather intriguing love story.
With lyrics like “There’s been highs and lows, fast lane freeways and bumpy roads. Cursed the devil and prayed to heaven. Lost it all and we rolled some sevens. There’s been some smiles, then there’s been tears. Been more good than bad years. Ain’t it crazy baby how we got here. Oh, it all started with a beer,” Ballard celebrates the relationship and all it’s endeavors.
It’s a rather catchy tune and one that could end up being played at many future weddings. The single is unique and written exceptionally well. It’s a love story, yes. However, the song is sort of saying “cheers” to this relationship while expressing appreciation of what the two have. It’s authentic, yet simple. Ballard’s voice hits the notes in perfect motion with the melody. Musically, “It All Started With A Beer” shows a growth, maturity and a different side to Frankie Ballard. It’s the perfect glimpse into his next album and I’m certain it will climb the charts in no time.
Be sure to pick up “It All Started With A Beer” at iTunes.
