Broadway Welcomes @KennyChesney and Friends!

Well, kind of…

As confusing as this may seem though, think about it this way: Few things can make Broadway more stellar than it is already. Throw in some cowboy boots, a few twangs, and honest songs about lust and love, and you can consider Broadway at its absolute finest.

Broadway, you have reached your peak! The New York Musical Theatre Festival’s new production, Somewhere With You, is set to feature a modern country songbook including Kenny Chesney, Jake Owen, Uncle KrackerKeith UrbanBilly Currington and other country music superstars. Of course, Kenny’s “Somewhere With You” will appear in the production, along with Jake’s “Alone With You,” and Uncle Kracker’s hit “Smile.” Other country songs on the bill are yet to be announced.

“Somewhere With You” is a musical that portrays a love story between an aspiring country singer and a recovering meth addict. According to the New York Musical Theatre Festival site, the show is a “compellingly gritty, coming-of-age love story.” The characters are “confronted by the methamphetamine epidemic, the war in Iraq, and other post-9/11 challenges in the rural South.” Sounds like a country song to me!

The musical will debut at New York’s the Alice Griffin Jewel Box Theatre July 8-13, 2014.

The Somewhere With You cast includes Katy Frame, Lauren Hoffmeier, Jonathan Judge-Russo, Andrew Rothenberg, Ricardo Rust, Jay Thomas, and Joshua Wiles.

The Somewhere With You creative team consists of several prestigious individuals, including songwriter JT Harding (“Somewhere With You,” “Alone With You,” and “Smile”); Playwright Peter Zinn (of several Off-Broadway shows); Ricardo Rust (Choreographer/vocal arrangements); and Musical Director Danny Tejera.
