When a Virginia vocalist/songwriter and a Tennessee hick hop artist come together what do you think happens? Magic. That’s what. Mostly known for their social media stardom, Taylor Ray Holbrook and Ryan Upchurch deliver a damn good catchy tune with “Southern Land.”
Holbrook says the two teamed up after meeting in Nashville and becoming good friends. “We became friends a few months ago and wanted to collaborate on a song together to see how far up we could spike on the charts as independent artists. After hearing a fella named Ryan Miller from Alabama singing an original on Facebook, we knew the hook had potential to be a hit. So I had my roommate get me in contact with Ryan. I got his blessing, then got Ryan Upchurch, Austin Jenckes, and Jared Sciullo together. There in the month of March, ‘Southern Land’ was written.”
An upbeat track that starts off with a sweet strum of the six string, “Southern Land” is severely catchy and lyrically pleasing. Holbrook delivers nothing short of flawless vocals during the chorus while Upchurch brings fire with his consistent flow of lyrics. The track portrays a story of fun, country living and southern pride. A story that both performers know too well.
Although Holbrook and Upchurch are independent artists, they are both well-known and well-loved among country music fans. In fact, the brand new track has already hit top 10 on the country charts of iTunes. It won’t be long before the record deals start pouring in for these two talented individuals. One thing is for sure, Holbrook and Upchurch sure know how to make delightful music.
