If you go back to the beginnings of Country Music, you will find that there’s something special about family harmony. That trait stretches all the way from The Carter Family through The Delmore Brothers, The Louvin Brothes, the cousins of Alabama, and on through to The Swon Brothers. Now, get ready for another chapter of that history – with the debut single from Spencer’s Own.
Hailing from Twin Falls, Idaho, this group of five brothers have the harmony thing down pat. One member seems to know what the others are going to do three beats before they do it. That, my friends, is what you call precision. They are that good – from the debut single on.
The lyrics and production on “Livin’ in the Moment” are air-tight. The group makes it sound effortless – which of course, it’s not. The guitar work is impressive, and the delivery of the songs’ message exudes a ton of confidence. Another plus of the song is that it strikes a fine chord among what Country Music is and stays right there, not trying to be slick by introducing a more pop-styled sound. This is definitely a band to watch out for in 2016. All the intangibles are there, and to quote The Doors, it won’t surprise me to see Spencer’s Own “Break On Though” to the other side…and soon! They’re that good!
