[email protected] Named @Billboard’s Woman of the Year

The haters may hate, hate, hate, but Taylor Swift has added yet another impressive accolade to her collection, being named Billboards 2014 Woman of the Year. In addition to gaining the title for 2014, she becomes the first artist to ever receive the honor twice, having first received it in 2011.

According to Billboard, “The award goes to the female artist who ‘has shaped and inspired the music industry with her success, leadership and innovation over the past twelve months.'” She’s had a huge hit, kept her love life OUT of the tabloids for the most part and truly reinvigorated fan-celeb interaction in the past year, so I say, it’s a well-deserved accomplishment. PS How do I get invited to the next #1989SecretSession?!

Swift will be honored on December 12th at Billboard‘s ninth annual Women in Music event, which will be held at Cipriani Wall Street in New York City and presented by American Express.

“As one of the most influential artists of her generation, Taylor Swift has seen incredible success on the Billboard charts,” said Janice Min, co-president and chief creative officer of Guggenheim Media’s Entertainment Group, which consists of Billboard and The Hollywood Reporter. “Over the course of her career, she’s charted 60 entries on the Billboard Hot 100 — the most of any female artist since her debut in 2006. We are tremendously excited to be honoring her as the 2014 Billboard Woman of the Year for the second time.”

Previous non-Swift winners of Billboard‘s Woman of the Year Award include Pink, Katy Perry, Fergie and Beyonce.

“On behalf of American Express, I would like to congratulate Taylor Swift on this incredible honor,” said Deborah Curtis, vice president of entertainment and sports marketing at American Express. “We are proud to be a long-time partner of Taylor’s and are thrilled for her continued success and well-deserved recognition as Billboard‘s Woman of the Year.”

Despite her dabbling outside of country and the declaration that her album, 1989, due out October 27, will be a pop album, we couldn’t be happier for Taylor. Call us Swifties, but she makes us proud!
