[email protected] Was @DClarkP’s First …?

Minds out of the gutters, folks.

Last night at the 2014 American Music Awards (“AMAs“), a Dick Clark Productions event, Taylor Swift was honored with the first ever Dick Clark Award for Excellence. The award was presented to Taylor by legendary Diana Ross (and her even more iconic hair), dubbing Taylor an “artist, innovator, and icon.” Now, while the word “icon” is awfully large for someone of Taylor’s age, I encourage you to look back at her career and all that she has achieved. In this case, Taylor is living, walking, talking, breathing proof that “age ain’t nothing but a number.”

Upon making her way to the stage, Taylor stopped to share some congratulatory hugs with best friends Selena Gomez and Lorde, both of whom registered memorable performances during the show. Taylor graciously accepted the honor, exclaiming “I’m so blown away to have just received an award from Diana Ross!” Guaranteed when she left the stage, Diana Ross was saying “I’m so honored to have just given an award to Taylor Swift.”

In true Taylor fashion, she took a moment to show her sincere appreciation to the people who have supported her and helped her get to where she is today: her fans. “I love getting to know you, I love talking to you online, and I love having a glimpse into your life, and I’m so unbelievably happy that you want to have a glimpse into mine. Thank you so much.”

Congratulations to Taylor Swift on a much deserved honor!
