Tim McGraw and wife, Faith Hill, have been riding the airwaves with their latest duet “Meanwhile Back at Mama’s” for several weeks now, after debuting the new single at this year’s ACM Awards. Today, the country couple released the video to accompany the mellow, sweet-natured song that reminisces about a simpler time in life, back at Mama’s home.
Most appropriately, the video is quaint, taking place in the country on rolling farmland. Complete with green grass, roaming animals, rocking chairs, and back porches, the viewer is transported to the home which is the subject of the song. Other aspects of the video depict Tim as a writer, sitting inside the home and using the window as a gateway to his memories, as he puts pen to paper while smiling and singing about his life.
Tim is joined by his songstress spouse, who embraces him, as if to step into his shoes and identify with his words while looking out the window hoping to catch a glance at a passing memory. At the end of the video, in keeping with the lyrics of the song, Tim and Faith have made a life for themselves “back at Mama’s” and are seen hand-in-hand walking on the property. Adorably, the video begins and ends with a sign that says “The McGraw Family Established 1996,” indicating that the home has become their own, and also displaying the year that the two became one.
Viewers will recognize performance aspects of the video, as these portions are clipped from the aforementioned ACM Awards premiere of the song. You can watch the ACM Awards performance and read Jen Swirsky’s review of the song by clicking here, while the new music video is embedded below.
