Well, something extra special is happening at the Oscars this year that will have country fans making sure they tune in. Tim McGraw is going to be singing a song on Glen Campbell’s behalf! McGraw will be performing Glen Campbell’s Oscar-nominated song “I’m Not Going To Miss You” during the live television broadcast on February 22.
This special song is nominated for an Academy Award in the original song category and appears in the documentary Glen Campbell … I’ll Be Me, which follows Campbell’s final tour and his struggle. with Alzheimer’s disease.
“We are thrilled that Tim McGraw will be singing ‘I’m Not Gonna Miss You’ on Glen’s behalf at the Academy Awards,” said Campbell’s family in a statement. “Glen was always a fan of his music and Tim is sure to bring great emotional depth to the performance. We can’t wait to hear it live!”
Tim expressed just how honored he is to be a part of such a history making event.
“I’m honored to be asked to sing this powerful song from one of the true legends of the music industry,” added McGraw.
Glen is currently in a full care facility that specials in Alzheimers. His wife Kim assured everyone that Glen is doing well and is still the lovable, laughable guy he always was.
