When it comes to drinking anthems, there’s no denying that Toby Keith is king. Keeping in the spirit of “Drinks After Work” and “Red Solo Cup,” Keith has released “Drunk Americans,” the first single off of his forthcoming album, 35 MPH Town.
The track is an ode to the peace that can only be found in a bar while raising a drink with those who are different, yet alike at the same time. “We ain’t east, we ain’t west. We ain’t left, we ain’t right. Ain’t black, we ain’t white … we just came here to drink,” Keith proclaims. There’s no denying that America is a country divided, but at the same time, according to Keith, we’re all just one nation under beer.
“We just raise up our glass, we don’t give a rat’s ass if you’re a Democrat or Republican, we’re happy to be here and that you can see that we’re all drunk Americans.”
The track was written by Brandy Clark, Bob DiPiero and Shane McAnally, and is about finding peace in a new way. While Garth is all about “People Loving People” and Reba may “Pray for Peace”, Toby Keith drinks to it!
