Trace Adkins appeared on Chelsea Lately last night and true to form she spent most of the interview busting on him. This time it was for crying during LeAnn Rimes tribute to Patsy Cline at the ACA Awards last week. At first, Trace tried to dismiss the fact that he was in tears by saying that the stage crew was crying along with him. Chelsea responds with, “You were crying like a little bitch”. Trace was forced to get real and responded with, what has to be, the biggest compliment of LeAnn’s career…….
“I just don’t stand in anyone’s presence that can sing like that very often. It just moved me. That’s all”
Rimes herself was visibly emotional during the tribute to her hero. She has always felt a deep connection to Patsy and was incredibly honored to be asked to do this on the 50th anniversary of her death. It was, without any doubt, the most personal moment of the award show. Her voice was angelic and strong. Her presence was stunning with a larger than life Patsy Cline portrayed on the screen. She sang some of Patsy’s most memorable songs such as Crazy and Leaving on the Mind. It was a moment that brought everyone together to honor the legacy of the greatest voices in country music history.
Forget the fantastic voice, Trace Adkins is an amazing person. He showed the world such genuine honesty with his reaction. He took the spotlight off himself and moved it to LeAnn where he felt it was most deserved. Its a gesture she will not soon forget.
And here is the interview Trace Adkins did with Chelsea Handler.
