One of the biggest Country Music hitmakers in the 90s was Tracy Lawrence. Lawrence, a Texas native, specializes in country music that mixes classic honky-tonk and rock. In over twenty years, he has had forty-five singles with eighteen of them reaching number #1 on the country charts. On Sunday, October 22nd Tracy Lawrence came to perform for a nearly sold-out show at the Weinberg Center in Frederick, Maryland, to kick off the WFRE Rewind Series.
Tracy Lawrence opened the show with his upbeat hit “If The Good Die Young” and then went into “As Any Fool Can See.” Lawrence’s set was full of many fan favorites like “Alibis”, “Sticks and Stones”, “Texas Tornado”, “Can’t Break It to my Heart”, and “Stars Over Texas”. His band also performed cover songs like “Troubadour” by George Strait and “The South’s Going To Do It Again” by Charlie Daniels. My personal favorite song from Tracy Lawrence was “Paint Me a Birmingham” which tells the story of a man who meets an artist on a beach and requests for him to paint a picture of the dream he had with his lost love. Many people can relate to the song and it’s easy to sing along with it. He closed the show with “I Can See It Now” and “Find Out Who Your Friends Are”.
The 49-year-old Texan can still put on a great show for country music fans everywhere. Tracy Lawrence is very energetic and can easily make the audience sing along to his music. His show is worth seeing a second time. Listening to his songs on the radio is great, but seeing him live in concert makes his music even better.
