Last week, Trisha Yearwood declared her inevitable and much-awaited comeback to country music. Country fans clamored with excitement as she announced details of her new album to be released on Sony Music Nashville. The first single’s title, “Prizefighter,” was revealed and since then, Yearwood has been teasing fans with lyrics on her Facebook page.
Last week, there were some tweets around the Twitterverse pointing to Yearwood’s first offering being a collaboration with another female powerhouse. Today, Sony Music Nashville revealed the cover of Trisha’s radio single, heading to radio September 15th.
As for that second female voice on the track, enter country music’s favorite dabbler and duet partner, Kelly Clarkson. The empowering track was written by Jessi Alexander, Sarah Buxton, and Ross Copperman, and frankly, we CANNOT wait to hear it.
“I love how PrizeFighter makes me feel…like even when the odds are against me, I can do anything. It’s a message we all need to hear, and the track just plain rocks! I can’t wait for folks to hear it,” said Yearwood.
September 15th can’t come soon enough!
In the meantime, here’s Clarkson fan-girling before performing a pretty spectacular cover of the Yearwood classic, “Walkaway Joe.”
