Coming to HBO in October will be releasing a Foo Fighters series titled Sonic Highways, and joining the series are icons Willie Nelson and Dolly Parton. The series will follow the rock group as they record their eighth studio album gathering influence from different studios across the country while interviewing iconic musicians along the way. HBO released the trailer yesterday (August 21) which shows the band hitting cities like New Orleans, Austin, Chicago, Los Angeles and Nashville.
“I really believe that the environment in which you write record an album, it influences the musical result,” Foo Fighters front man Dave Grohl says at the beginning of the trailer. Dave and the Foos couldn’t think of a better way to make an album than to travel the “sonic highways” on the “musical map of America” to create their best album possible in which will be “a love letter to the history of American music.”
Country fans can expect to see interviews with country music legends Willie Nelson and Dolly Parton. Other interviews with notable musicians from other genres include Slash, Macklemore, Fugazi’s Ian MacKaye, Steve Albini, Cheap Trick’s Rick Nielsen, Clive Davis, LL Cool J., Pharrell, and Buddy Guy.
